A Day In The Country – Customer Event ’22

On Wednesday 6th of July ’22, we held our first customer event since before the pandemic … and it was well worth the wait!

The overall day was both great fun and insightful, and it felt so good to be able to meet with our customers and partners face to face again … some old and some new.

The event took in the Oxfordshire countryside at The Great Barn at Aynho, the setting itself was idyllic and we knew straight away that it would be the perfect venue to host a full day of fun for our valued customers.

The day kicked off at 10 am with a presentation from ourselves where we gave an update on Covenco from the past 2 years – The big rebrand, the extensive list of services that we now offer, and the Covenco team itself, were some of the topics that Gurdip and Stacey spoke about on the day. Then we handed over to one of our key partners, Veeam – where we had the pleasure of Luca Dell’Oca, Principal Cloud Architect (who flew in from Italy), and his colleague Paul Szelesi, Director of Solutions Architecture EMEA who took us through the Veeam Data Protection services, touching upon the prevalent topic of ransomware and how to be in with a chance of successfully recovering, should the worst ever happen!

After a quick brew and biscuit break, we got on to our cyber security partners’ sessions. Starting with Nettitude (an award-winning cybersecurity services partner), Adrian Shaw, Senior Incident Response Consultant delivered a great, in-depth session on a real-life Incident Response case study of an organisation over-run with ransomware, including a timeline of what unfolded and when, and the recovery process after they were hit

To finish off the morning session, we were joined by Ben Charles, UK Senior Security Architect at Cynet – one of our cybersecurity partners. Ben gave a comprehensive presentation on Cynet’s Enhanced Threat Visibility and gave insight into how a business can have greater visibility, but respond with lean resources.

After a delicious BBQ in the glorious sunshine, we were briefed on the afternoon activities, which included the country favourites – Clay Pigeon Shooting, Rage Buggies, and Hovercraft Driving. We were really impressed with everyone’s efforts … with some picking up their newly skilled activities somewhat quicker than others, and we would like to give a special shout-out to the impressive winners of each activity:

  • Edward Hamilton from Cowens took home the crown for most clay pigeons shot
  • Veeam’s Luca Dell’Oca was an absolute speed demon in the rage buggies
  • Tony Serratore from Penlon demonstrated great skill at driving the hovercraft (we won’t mention the Rage Buggies though) …

And of course, we can’t forget to mention the overall team winner …Team 1 or Gurdip’s Team … Promise it wasn’t a fix! 😊

We hope that everyone enjoyed the day, as much as we did – it really was great to meet up with everyone in the flesh.

Until next time …

We even captured some of the day's special moments on film ...
